Purpose: The objectives of the Department of Agricultural Economics are to teach all the students of the college the fundamental concepts and principles of economics to make the best use of resources allocated to agriculture and agro industries, educate the students in the Department to be able to perform the duties expected of them and conduct research activities in both macro and micro level and develop solutions to the problems in the field.
History
The proposal to establish branches of agricultural economics department was examined at general meeting of the board of higher education in 2007 and was found appropriate.Department of Agricultural Economics is a part of Iğdır faculty of Agriculture.There is a slight effort to create a department library.It is possible to find different sorts of Turkish and foreign publications,master’s and doctoral theses written by agriculture economics post-graduate students and periodicals sent by a variety of agencies.
